So, I visited the Baby show on 3rd March 2019 at the Excel Centre in London – courtesy of Media Snug. The show itself takes place 3 times a year at different venues, and is basically a one stop shop for parents to-be and new parents.
I scoured the show to bring you information on the best gifts you can buy for anyone with a baby/toddler in their life.
The show was full of innovation, with gadgets galore. I was very impressed with some of the ideas and kept thinking how useful I would have found them when my kids were younger.
Didiofy Self Folding Pushchair
One of the first things I came across at the show was a self folding Push chair by Didofy. This is such a good idea, I really wonder why somebody didn’t come up with it before. This would make a brilliant present for a new baby and would be so helpful for the parents. All parents out there know what a pain it is to open and close pushchairs. Some are fiddly and some are just down right complicated. This pushchair is a game changer. You push a button and it takes 8 seconds to fold down. In that time you can put a baby in the car and strap them in. It weighs 14 kg which is a little on the heavier side and there are lighter pushchairs on the market but this is such a good design. If you have a smaller car (ie a mini or micra) you can detach the wheels of this pushchair to fit it in. You can also charge your mobile phone on the go, as it has a USB built in. I hadn’t heard of Didofy before, but I am glad I went to see the launch of this product as it is impressive. I also met with the designer, whose passion for the product was very evident and very nice to see.

Bluebell Smart Monitoring system
Another gadget I came across was something called the Bluebell Smart Monitoring System. The Bluebell system consists of a wearable baby monitor, a parent wristband and a smart hub. The baby monitor attaches to baby’s clothes and monitors their breathing, skin temperature, position and crying. The parent wristband is used in conjunction with the baby monitor and keeps the parent informed of the baby’s well-being and routine. It also acts like a bit of an activity tracker for the parent. All this information is downloaded on an app which in turn helps you to understand a baby’s routine and keep track of milestones whilst also helping improve the parent’s well-being. This would make a fantastic gift for first time parents. It would take the worry away of trying to remember baby’s sleep times /nappy changes/feeding times and a million other things parents need to remember.

Kiddo’z Smart Milk Dispenser
The next thing I discovered at the show was the Kiddo’z smart milk dispenser. This simple invention is going to be so handy for all parents who have to bottle feed their children. Kiddo’z is a milk powder dispenser that allows parent to prepare a baby bottle in advance. So if baby wakes up at night or you are travelling, you can have your bottle ready beforehand. It works by storing milk powder in the dispenser, which is closed, and screwing it onto the milk bottle. You then twist the dispenser to release the powder into water and mix it. You then simply feed the baby. You don’t need to open the bottle, its all ready for you. The Kiddo’z is currently only compatible with MAM bottles, so if you are gifting this then you need to take that into consideration. I really liked this as I have a baby who wakes up in the middle of the night and it would be great to have everything pre-prepared. The Kiddo’z smart milk dispenser will be launched in a few months. And I shall be getting one.

Next up is the Milkymeter. Another little gadget that is going to be so useful to new parents. Basically this product is a thermometer for milk, to be used inside the microwave. You use it by placing it into the milk bottle, popping the bottle into the microwave and waiting for the light on the thermometer to go green to let you know when baby’s milk is the perfect temperature. The light on top of the Milkymeter flashes different colours to tell you if the milk is too cold (flashes blue), ready to drink (green flashing light) or too hot (red flashing light). It takes out all the guess work of the milk being too hot or too cold, and saves you from having your wrist constantly smelling of Aptamil/Cow & gate (ALL parents will get that one!). I used a perfect prep machine for my baby, which was great, but its expensive to buy and expensive to run as you have to constantly replace the filters. The Milkymeter eliminates the need for guesstimating temperature, and allows you to use your microwave to heat bottles. This small but thoughtful gift would be very much appreciated by parents.

I then met with the inventor of Rockit –the portable baby rocker. You attach the Rockit device to any pushchair or pram and then press a button and it creates a smooth rocking motion, like a person would rock a pushchair. When I saw this, I kept thinking of my own baby, who would always cry his eye’s out anytime we went shopping and I would stop to browse the supermarket aisles. I wish this had been available then. The Rockit looks really cute and is also very useful. Would make a very cool gift.

Baby Changing Bags
If you’re looking for something stylish as a gift for a new mum, you can’t go wrong with a gorgeous bag. There were lots of bags on display at the Baby Show, but the ones that stood out to me were Kerikit and Tiba and Marl bags.
Kerikit bags are beautifully made with premium leather and designed to keep mums organised and looking great at the same time. What I noticed about these bags is they are not just mummy bags, but bags that can be used long after you’ve stopped changing nappies. The price on these bags reflect their craftsmanship and quality. These would make a fantastic gift for any new mum, but they are not just for new mums. Any woman would love these bags. I know I would (Hint to the husband).

Tiba and Marl bags are perfect for the new mum or Dad. They are beautifully designed and practical yet chic and again would make a beautiful gift. Tiba and Marl have lots of contemporary designs that will be loved by parents. They also have changing mats that are shaped like purses, which look pretty cool. The bags are there to provide practicality and on trend style for parents to enjoy.

I also discovered a brand called HippyChick at the baby show and they were selling lots of gorgeous toys there. Their toys were well made, sturdy and just downright cute. Something that caught my eye was the Nattou rocker. A soft plush rocker with a wooden base that comes in different designs. These were the cutest things I saw at the show (If only they made them for adults too!). These would made an adorable present for a toddler.

Another really useful product I saw was the Blinky blanket/foot-muff. If you’re looking to buy a foot-muff/blanket, or want to give something useful and practical as a gift, then this item fits the bill. This is a blanket for buggies that is useful in all weather. Blinky fits on any existing buggy like a foot-muff. It’s fleece-lined and machine-washable. It features a breathable blackout sleep shade with UV 50 protection and a PVC rain cover. The Blinky will protect kids from all elements. It’s practical and folds away compactly in a pouch.

Nibbling Gift baskets
Want to give a new parent something really practical and useful?, well you can’t go wrong with Nibbling baby accessories. Nibbling have created lots of good quality baby accessories from dummy clips to Teethers. Their accessories are BPA free and Pediatrician approved. I actually bought a Teether for my little one on Sunday. He seems to chomp away at everything and anything at the moment, so this was a good purchase for me. You can choose from so many different accessories that will all be super useful. There are dummy clips (dummies that clip on to babies clothes so you don’t lose them), a range of teethers and teething necklaces. They come in different colours and shapes and make awesome presents. You can also create a gift box of products and get them personalised, which is brilliant if you are going to give these as gifts.

Last but not least I came across Snugglebundl. This is an innovative baby car seat blanket. The blanket has two safety handles so you can pick a baby up out of a car seat without waking them up. This blanket has multiple uses. It can be used to lift and lay baby from one place to another, it can be used as a play mat, can be used as a breastfeeding blanket and can also turn into a baby’s comforter. It comes in a range of designs and would make a very useful gift for new parents. It would be especially useful for mum’s who require posture support as it reduces stooping down and picking baby up.

And there you have it, my choice of gifts from the baby show. There were many items at the baby show, but I chose the ones I felt were a little different and out of the box. I could write about so many more products, but feel like I would end up writing a dissertation rather than a blog. I hope you find what I’ve written helpful and its given you lots of ideas for gifts.
I would also like to thank Media Snug for providing me with a ticket to the event and inviting me to the launch of the Didofy Lotus.
Until next time, Gift Goonie out.
