It’s a funny old time at the moment, the majority of the World is in lockdown or quarantine of some sort. Our entire way of life has changed but I think the most difficult thing about being in isolation is not being able to be close to those who are dear to us. Therefore sending a gesture in the form of a gift is always going to be a great reminder to family and friends that we are thinking about them.
The World hasn’t stopped, Babies are still being born, people are still working (albeit differently) and relationships are still going strong even with social distancing. My gift guide is all about the little joys we can pass on and give to people who maybe a little far, but still remain close to our hearts. A gift can bring many smiles even though we are miles apart.
This may all sound super cheesy but sending a little gift in the post can really bridge the distance in these tough times and make such a difference to someone’s day. I have curated some lovely gifts that you can buy online and send to the people you’re thinking of but can’t be close to.
Scent of a candle
![]()
I was given this gorgeous Cuban Tobacco and Oak candle as a gift recently by Handmadeperfect4u. The first thing I must tell you is what a lovely smell this candle has. I’ve never tried this scent before, but it is something I will be buying again. I honestly wish we had smell-o-vision or I could somehow transport this scent to you, but I don’t so you’ll have to do with me describing the aroma.
This is not a delicate feminine smelling candle. It has a sweet and musky scent. It is more of an aftershave than a perfume. I would have imagined Cuban Tobacco would have the aroma of Cigars but this is spicy and sweet and quite elegant.
I love it and so does my super fussy husband (he’s very particular about scents).
So if you’re looking for a lovely little gift to send someone then this is such a good idea. You may not be able to be with someone in person, but every time they light this candle they will think of you.
This actually makes a great gift for men and women. They have so many other great smelling candles in their range, think I’ll be trying the Coffee Mocha Scent next.
Coffee with the Bestie
You may not be able to meet your Best friend for a coffee and a catch up these days, but sending them this funny mug with a hilarious caption is sure to cheer him/her up. Love home Unique has a variety of gorgeous Mugs on sale and you can choose from so many from Disney Princesses to funny slogans. This one is my favourite. A gorgeous gift to send in isolation.
Send Literary Love

Not on the High Street have a personalised gift book subscription service available, which would be great for any book lover at this time. You pick your subscription period (3, 6 or 12 months), then a welcome pack will be sent to the recipient for them to activate their subscription and once activated they get a new book every month. A perfect gift idea for an avid reader and something to help pass the time in isolation. **
Post a Parcel

A great gift to give to someone in isolation is a well curated parcel. Parcelondon.com does just that. They have pre-made gift sets that you can send to a variety of people for a variety of occasions.
So, if you want to send a birthday gift or a pamper package, they have you covered. You can also create a bespoke package if you prefer. There are some amazing gifts for Women and Men and they make a perfect gift to send anyone in isolation.
Entertain the Kids
This isolation period must be seriously difficult for Kids. They can’t really go out and schools are closed too.
However, help is at hand. Prezzybox has some amazing boredom busting gifts for kids. From building an Electric Stunt Buggy to mini retro games to virtual pets.
Lots of things to keep the kids occupied and lots of amazing gifts to send through the post.
Personally, I would love to be gifted a retro gaming mat. You can play your retro games with your feet as the mat acts like a controller. This also means that you get a bit of exercise whilst playing games. Sounds like great fun. **
So there you have a fair few ideas of what fun and exciting gifts you can send people in isolation. These gifts are guaranteed to make your nearest and dearest smile.
Final Thoughts
The lockdown is a difficult period and requires a lot of adjustment in our daily lives. But let’s hope that things get better soon and we can actually gift our friends and family in person. Until then these ideas make great gifts to send people in isolation.
Also if you’re on a budget, don’t forget to check my post out on how to save money when buying gifts. It’s got some brilliant ideas on things you can do to save money when shopping online. It’s a must read if you want to save your pennies.
