I was recently invited to the 10th Hyper Japan festival in London Olympia. This was my first time attending the event and it was absolutely amazing. The event was full of Japanese culture, vibrant colours, fantastic food, CosPlay and lots of Japanese gifts.

And a big emerging Trend is coming from Japan, so I wanted to share a blog on Japanese inspired gifts as I’m sure we shall all be seeing lots more around.
My top five gifts from Hyper Japan are:
Original Artwork
1. There were an abundance of artists at Hyper Japan 2019 with some amazing work. I actually liked so many and was so impressed with the quality and calibre of art. I’ve picked two artists I really liked at the event. You can buy prints and original artwork from these artists and they would make amazing gifts. There was Lewis from

I also met with Simon Diesendruck who specialises in Abstract Japanese paintings. I loved his work and I’m sure you will too. You can find him on instagram
Tools to learn the Language
2. As I mentioned earlier, Japanese influences will be strong at the end of this year and the beginning of the next. If you factor in that we have the Tokyo Olympics in 2020, you’ll be seeing all things Japan everywhere. I also think Japanese tourism will go into overdrive. So a fun and educational gift to someone who is thinking of visiting Japan or just likes to learn languages is the Hai Hirgana flash cards. You can get further information here
Homewares
3. The next gift is probably one of my personal favourites. I love homeware as gifts. I’m 38, but my homewares addiction makes it seem like I’m 98. I love buying cups and saucers and have been begging my Husband to buy me a particular Vacuum cleaner for my birthday (he didn’t as he thinks I’m joking and doesn’t think a vacuum cleaner constitutes as a gift). I digress. Whilst at Hyper Japan, I saw beautiful bowls and teapots and cups at Doki Ltd

and couldn’t help but buy myself a ramen bowl. There were so many to choose from and these make an absolute corker of a gift (according to me).
Hand-made Charms
4. The next item is just cute and fun. At Hyper Japan I came across a company called MiyabiLondon.
Charms
They make beautiful hand made charms to put on bracelets. I was talking to the owner, who mentioned that he hand finishes all the charms. I was so impressed by the attention to detail and just how damn sweet these little charms were. Have a look at these beauties, how can you resist? And how cute would these be to give to a mate. I love them.
Decoden Phone Cases
5. Last but certainly not the least I found a stall selling kawaii decoden phone cases. These are super popular in Japan and are just so cute. Sorayraya sells these amazing cases at her Etsy shop and they can be personalised however you want. Perfect gift for someone who loves their phone and wants a cover that will stand out.
